Information Technology (IT) was already at the forefront of business globally but due to the unfortunate emergence of the “COVID-19” pandemic and the resulting “Work from Home” (WFH) phenomenon, technology is now at the center-stage, backstage, front row you name it! Being in the technology sales profession long enough, one starts to pick up patterns of perception and behavior exhibited by enterprise customers regarding certain technologies (“IT Buzzwords”). I can tell you a thing or two about what I have observed in the Pakistani market about how one of the holy grails of IT buzzwords “Analytics” is perceived by the majority. In this blog, I will highlight some major misconceptions and expectations that are running rampant in the market and how Qlik Alerting has the potential to change all of it.

I have lost count of the number of times I have been in customer meetings talking about analytics and it all boils down to one question. It goes a little like this, “Will your Analytics Tool be able to send reports to the senior management?”. Well yeah it can but it can do so much more! Its true utility lies in actually helping you uncover the story that your data is telling you. How it allows business users to explore their data with minimal to no training. It’s like buying a high-performance sports car and then getting it to do the daily school pick-ups and drop offs rather than taking it to a racing track. Customers are asking for ‘Business Intelligence’ but are still thinking in the confines of soon to be antiquated ‘Reporting’.

Qlik just came out with a brand-new offering called “Qlik Alerting” and it has the potential to be a game changer (or a mindset changer even). It offers you the ability to be automatically notified immediately if you hit or miss a certain KPI or target exactly the same way you get alerted when somebody comments on your post on social media. No more waiting for a report that you will get via email which you will then open losing valuable hours or even days. Nobody can return all that time which was lost but with ‘Qlik Alerting’ you can make sure it never happens again.
